| What
do I have to do ?
Nothing. At each session you will be seated
comfortably in a chair. Your eyes will be closed and you
will simply listen comfortably. If you relax deeply enough,
you may not even consciously hear some of the words. There
is nothing at all that you have to do or say, in fact . . . .
. the less you do, the better, you cannot make anything happen
. . . . you must let it happen.
How can I make changes, without actually doing anything
?
What
do you do when you cut yourself ?
You
put on a bandaid and forget about it. When you have an injury,
you do not have to think about it, in order for it to heal. It's
exactly the same with emotional healing. We are giving your
subconscious mind a safe environment to do the healing, without
your conscious intervention. We are using your own natural
healing ability, the same part that keeps you alive and functioning
without you having to try to consciously think about it.
You
are in fact doing quite a lot, you just aren't consciously aware
of it.
How long does it take ?
Each
individual is different and responds in their own particular way.
For some there is immediate change and for others a more gradual
and subtle process is experienced.
It
is important to emphasise that PSH is the start, and not the finish,
of an internal process, and many clients will experience ongoing
inner change well after the face-to-face sessions are completed.
For most people, the formal part of therapy only requires between
three to five sessions with the therapist.
Is
it the same as hypnosis ?
Contrary
to popular belief, no-one can hypnotise you, all hypnosis is self
hypnosis - you have to be 100% willing. And no-one can make
you do or say anything that you wouldn't normally do or say. It
is similar in that both work with the subconscious, however it
is different in many other respects. This form of therapy is private,
gentle and brief. You are always in control and aware of what
the therapist is saying. You yourself, will not have to
do or say anything.
When
is P.S.H. therapy useful ?
When
a person has feelings, behaviours or responses to external stress
that they are unable to resolve through conscious effort or willpower,
it is usually an indication of conflict within the subconscious
mind. Often the original feelings such as fear, hurt, anger,
guilt, resentment, shame, insecurity and rejection amongst others,
have been tucked away in the subconscious at some time. While
they remain there they have the power to influence our present
feelings and behaviour because the conscious mind is unaware of
these hidden feelings.
P.S.H. Therapy can help you to live a contented life again.
What is the sub-conscious mind ?
Your subconscious mind is the part of you that is in charge of
your automatic functions, like making your heart beat, digesting
your food and healing wounds. It is that more intuitive,
creative part of you that holds the key to all of your life experiences.
It is the part that is in control of all your emotional
feelings, your creative imagination and your ability to meditate
and dream. It enables you to do many things like walking
down the street, driving a car safely and singing in tune, without
you having to consciously think about it.
Your
subconscious mind also stores all of your memories - every experience
you have ever had - everything you have ever seen, heard, felt,
tasted or smelled. These memories are often not accessible,
yet they determine how you react throughout your life.
